SSS Number and ID: Checklist

Name: [Your name]. sss.gov.ph did not open on 2 November 2026, so the steps marked “SSS says” come from search excerpts of its pages. Confirm them in My.SSS or at a branch.

1. What you need

☐ Birth certificate. Without one: baptismal certificate, driver’s license, passport, PhilSys ID or ePhilID, PRC card, seafarer’s book or UMID.

☐ None of these? Two other documents, both with your correct name and one with your birth date.

☐ SSS says: a PSA birth certificate makes your number permanent.

☐ Your mobile number and email.

2. The form

– Personal Record, also called E-1. SSS says the online form gives you a transaction slip and your SS number.

– For the card: the application in My.SSS.

3. Your application

– Search for your old number first. SSS says one number is for life, and two numbers delay benefits.

– After you have a number, create a My.SSS account. It can check you by mobile or email on record, or by the transaction number in your Personal Record.

4. Where to file

– SSS says: online, with or without uploading documents. Without them your number stays Temporary.

– SSS says: a Temporary number takes contributions only. For loans and benefits, show your documents at a branch to make it Permanent.

5. Time limits

– Self-employed: register within 30 days from starting work. Employees: your employer must report you to SSS at once.

– SSS says: no fee for the number. The waiting time was not confirmed.

6. Keep it

– SSS says: the MySSS Card replaces UMID, through partner banks, and older cards stay valid. You need a permanent number, an up-to-date My.SSS account and PhilSys registration. A bank may charge a fee.

– Whether a contribution is needed for the card was not confirmed. Ask at a branch.

– SSS says: wrong details in your record are fixed at a branch.
