Article 300(a), formerly Article 285(a), requires written notice at least one month in advance when an employee resigns without just cause. An employer who receives no such notice may hold the employee liable for damages.

Article 300(b) allows immediate resignation without notice only for serious insult, inhuman and unbearable treatment, a crime or offense against the employee or an immediate family member, or an analogous cause. Keep only a ground that is true and preserve evidence.

Check your employment contract, collective agreement and company policy. They may provide a more favorable process; obtain advice before relying on immediate resignation if the facts are disputed.

Keep the received copy, registered-mail receipt, courier proof or sent e-mail. Use a personal address for replies after your last day.

Ask HR for a written clearance checklist and return company property against a receipt.
