School [SCHOOL NAME] Grade level / section Grade 7 — [SECTION]

Teacher [TEACHER’S NAME] Learning area Science

Date and time [DATE], [TIME] Term / week Term 2, Week [ ]

Curriculum MATATAG (revised K to 12) Lesson [ ] of [ ] in this competency

I — INTENTIONS

Unpack, cluster or sequence the competency into clear, manageable objectives that fit the learners’ readiness and the time available.

Content standard [Copy from the curriculum guide — what learners should know.]

Performance standard [Copy from the curriculum guide — what learners should be able to do.]

Learning competency (with code) [e.g. S7MT-IIa-1 — copy the exact competency; one competency may take several lessons]

Learning objectives for this lesson By the end of the lesson, learners will be able to: 1) [explain …]; 2) [carry out / solve …]; 3) [show …]. Keep them few and doable in the time you have.

Success criteria (in learners’ words) I can […]. I can […].

L — LEARNING EXPERIENCE

Choose the resources and the sequence of activities; plan the flow so it can adjust to how learners respond.

Learning resources Textbook pp. [ ]; [LR portal / teacher-made material]; [materials, tools]. Home-based alternative if classes are disrupted: [learning activity sheet / module, radio or TV lesson, offline video].

Pre-lesson activity (brief) [3–5 minutes: recall, a question, a picture or a short task that connects to what learners already know.]

Lesson flow 1. [Activity — learners do …] ([ ] min)

2. [Discussion / modelling — teacher shows …] ([ ] min)

3. [Practice — pairs or groups …] ([ ] min)

4. [Application — learners use it in a new situation …] ([ ] min)

If learners are faster or slower than planned: [what you will skip, add or change].

Integration and contextualisation [Link to another learning area; local example from the learners’ community; language support.]

Learners who need support [Learners with disabilities, multigrade groups, ALS or IP learners: adjustments to tasks, time, materials or grouping.]

A — ASSESSING LEARNING

Formative checks throughout the session guide immediate adjustments and show who needs support or enrichment.

Checks during the lesson [When and how you check — questions, exit ticket, thumbs up, mini-whiteboard, observation of group work. What you will look for.]

If learners struggle [What you will do on the spot — re-explain with another example, peer tutoring, simpler task.]

Graded output (if any) [Written work or performance task that goes to the class record; formative checks are not graded.]

W — WAYS FORWARD

Reflect at the end of the lesson and decide the next steps.

Reflection [What worked? What did not? How many learners reached the objectives: [ ] of [ ].]

Next steps Remediation: [names / group, what]. Reteaching: [what, when]. Enrichment: [what, for whom].

Extended learning (optional) [Home task, project or reading — only if useful.]

• Basis: DepEd Order No. 16, s. 2026 — Guidelines on Lesson Planning and Learning Design (4 June 2026). It replaces DO No. 42, s. 2016 (DLL/DLP). A plan is sufficient when the intentions, learning experience, assessment approach and ways forward are evident and aligned.

• Transition: the DLL or DLP formats of DO 42, s. 2016 could be used until the end of Term 1 of SY 2026–2027. From Term 2 (16 September 2026) the ILAW guidelines apply in full.

• Format is yours: the DepEd lesson-planning guide (Annex B) is a reference, not a required template. Offices and schools may not require extra components or templates beyond the framework.

• Artificial intelligence may help with routine tasks (grammar, formatting), but you validate all content; wholly AI-generated plans are not acceptable.

• Keep your lesson plans (digital or printed); a three-year archive is recommended.

• Sources: DO 16, s. 2026 as published by teacher sites and the Philippine News Agency; the official PDF on deped.gov.ph could not be opened on 19 October 2026 — check it.
