SSS sickness benefit: notify your employer within 5 days

Section 14 of the Social Security Act (R.A. 11199): a member who paid at least three monthly contributions in the 12 months before the semester of sickness, and is confined for more than three days, gets a daily benefit of 90% of the average daily salary credit.

It can't be paid longer than 120 days in one calendar year. Unused days don't carry over.

Example

Illustrative example only. Average daily salary credit ₱600, so 90% is ₱540 a day. Five compensable days: 5 × ₱540 = ₱2,700.

⚠️ Tandaan

Notify your employer within five calendar days after confinement starts. No notice is needed if you are in a hospital, or if you got sick or injured at work. Where notice is needed, confinement counts from no earlier than the fifth day before you notified.
